The New England Patriots were once considered one of the best teams in the NFL and one of the world’s most successful professional sports franchises.
The two-headed monster of head coach Bill Belichick and superstar Tom Brady resulted in six Super Bowl titles and a lasting legacy.
Unfortunately, after Brady decided to leave the Patriots a few years ago to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England was no longer a force to be reckoned with as Belichick has struggled to rebuild the team into a perennial title contender.
According to Dov Kleiman, Belichick hasn’t faired well without Brady under center, nor has he proven he can replace him with a formidable quarterback that can lead the Patriots back to glory.
Belichick is below .500 in the 10 seasons without Tom Brady. He missed the playoffs in 8 of those.
Despite mostly having former 1st overall picks and Pro-Bowlers at QB. Not backups.
With Brady: 28.0 PPG
W/O Brady 2000: 22.025-26 record since Belichick pushed him out in 2020

Despite Mac Jones being a Pro Bowler in his rookie season with the Patriots, New England was an absolute mess last season, as they decided not to replace Josh McDaniels immediately.
The Patriots chose to go without an offensive coordinator, which took a toll on Jones’ development, and now rumors have been swirling about the team wanting to move on from the Alabama product.
With the Patriots recently being linked to Lamar Jackson, it’ll be interesting to see if the team does move off Jones and pursues the one-time NFL MVP to help right the ship before owner Robert Kraft may be forced to decide on Belichick’s future with the franchise.
Kraft recently let it be known that it’s up to Belichick regarding the pursuit of Jackson, but there’s been no traction yet, nor has any team emerged as a favorite to land the disgruntled quarterback.
