Over the past several NFL offseasons, Eric Bieniemy has been the subject of conversation for many teams, as they interviewed him to be their new head coach.
Bieniemy, of course, is the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that has found great success with him as their OC.
Eric Bienemy has been the Chiefs OC and play caller for 5 seasons. Their rank in total offense:
2018: 1st
2019: 5th
2020: 1st
2021: 3rd
2022: 1st https://t.co/TzrhdcQUaB— Field Yates (@FieldYates) February 8, 2023
In the past five seasons, the Chiefs haven’t fallen out of the top five in total offense, which is largely due to the pairing of Bieniemy and Patrick Mahomes.
Before he was the Chiefs OC, Bieniemy was the team’s running backs coach but has found his footing as offensive coordinator.
Will this be the year that he finally leaves the Chiefs?
A coach like Bieniemy is faced with a difficult decision.
He can join a new team, likely as their head coach, and start fresh with an organization for the first time in nearly ten years.
Or, he can stay with what is comfortable, a team that has made the AFC Championship in five straight years, and has reached the Super Bowl in three of those.
Bieniemy is well-liked by the organization, fans, and players alike.
A change at OC could shock the Chiefs’ offense, considering that Mahomes has only been a quarterback under his offensive scheme.
However, money generally talks about when it comes to a situation like this.
Also, fans know Andy Reid is overseeing the offense.
If offered another head coaching job, will Bieniemy be able to turn it down?
The Indianapolis Colts still haven’t decided on their head coaching situation, and that is a place that Bienemy has been rumored to.
Will he take a job at either when the Super Bowl has been completed?
