After the Denver Broncos decided to hire Sean Payton, many pundits around the NFL had mixed reactions, especially when they found out the compensation for him.
The Broncos traded their 2023 first-round pick, and 2024 second-round pick, and received Payton and a 2024 third-round pick in return.
While many expressed their negative opinions on this trade, especially for a coach, one NFL insider applauds the Broncos’ move.
A great head coach is absolutely worth a first-round pick +. Payton will change the Denver culture the moment he walks through the door. Saw it happen with Parcells/#Jets. And I don't think the #Patriots regret giving up a 1 for Belichick (though he wasn't "great" at the time).

The Broncos were one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2022, despite trading for Russell Wilson.
Payton was the head coach for the New Orleans Saints for 15 seasons, leading them to a Super Bowl victory in 2009.
Under Payton’s leadership, in 15 seasons, the Saints only experienced a losing record four times.
The Broncos, on the other hand, have six straight losing seasons.
With any luck, Payton will be able to bring them out of their slump, and back to their winning ways of old.
The Broncos haven’t made it to the Super Bowl since 2015 when Peyton Manning led the team to a victory.
Were the Broncos meant to have a “Payton” dynasty?
Manning was able to reach two Super Bowls in three seasons as a member of the Broncos.
Perhaps, the duo of Payton and Wilson can bring them back to their former glory.
After a season where their offense averaged just 16.9 points per game, the worst in the league, the Broncos need a serious change.
Once they dealt their first-rounder in the agreement for Payton, the Broncos more or less committed to their current roster, however, believing that they have the right players in place to succeed.
