All things considered, the Las Vegas Raiders weren’t fair to Derek Carr.
They pretty much threw him under the bus after one disastrous year under Josh McDaniels, a Head Coach who was outcoached by Jeff Saturday in his professional debut.
The Raiders decided to move on from Carr and pursue a new direction at QB, regardless of how well he’s performed for them more often than not.
Carr has had to deal with an organization that hasn’t had a steady course for years now, including the Jon Gruden debacle and some of the worst scouting we’ve seen in years.
And while he might not be a top-tier QB, he could still gauge plenty of interest in the league, especially considering how many QB-needy teams we’ll find in the off-season.
That’s why he did the right thing by letting the Raiders know that he’s not going to accept a trade to the New Orleans Saints or any other team, forcing the franchise to release him before his $40.4 million salary becomes guaranteed on Tuesday.
From Sunday: #Raiders QB Derek Carr is being released after informing the team he won’t accept a trade to the #Saints or anyone else.

Carr will be free to choose where he wants to play instead of forcing his future team to give up NFL Draft assets to help the organization that threw him under the bus.
Unsurprisingly, that prompted plenty of reactions on social media, with most people backing up Carr for not trying to help the Raiders.

Why would he accept a trade?
-Helps the team who threw him under the bus.
-Hurts the team he is going to join.
-Doesn’t get to completely pick where he’s going.Seems like a no brainer to me.

He isn’t taking a discount and Loomis can’t afford to keep kicking the bill down the road to pay Carr. Sucks for the saints. Good for the rest of the south.

Saints would rather have Rodgers anyway. 🥴

Can anyone blame him? The @Raiders screwed him over. Why should he do anything to benefit them?

Good for him. Why would he hurt the team he plays for by making them give up draft capital?

Las Vegas will now focus on pursuing Aaron Rodgers, with Davante Adams already recruiting his former teammate.
As for Carr, he’ll have one last chance to silence his critics and prove that he’s way better than the team he played for since entering the league.
