Washington Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke will again be the team’s starting quarterback after Carson Wentz suffered a high ankle sprain that will sideline him for four to six weeks.
But while Wentz has better stats this season, Heinicke has a say over that starting role.
Therefore, he can use these games as an audition for being the Commanders’ starter again.
If Wentz will miss up to four weeks, Heinicke will face some tough opposition.

The Commanders will face the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, and they are ready to bounce back after scoring just ten points in their loss to the New York Jets.
Then, they will go to Indianapolis to face the Colts before welcoming the Minnesota Vikings at home.
The Commanders will close the stretch against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles.
That stretch of games has this football fan excited about Heinicke’s return.

Washington Having More Options
The Commanders have improved their pool of talent around the quarterback.
Last year, Heinicke had Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic as running back.
They also had Terry McLaurin, Adam Humphries, and Jaret Patterson at wide receiver.
This year, the Commanders added running back Brian Robinson Jr, who had his first NFL touchdown last season.
Meanwhile, the receiving corps also went through major changes, especially with the addition of Jahan Dotson.
With an improved roster from last season, here’s a reminder regarding Heinicke last season.
A reminder that Taylor Heinicke won 7 games last fall with McLaurin as his lone weapon against a GAUNTLET of QBs.
Considering his mobility and the addition of talent on O, I expect him to play well.

That’s why some fans are saying that they are getting an upgrade with Heinicke taking charge again.
Likewise, their new additions can help usher in a better performance every week.
Heinicke can use these games as an audition to become the permanent starter.
