Jameis Winston’s NFL career has been something of a whirlwind, especially in the past few seasons.
In 2019, Winston led the league in pass attempts, and passing yards, but also interceptions.
Since then, Winston has started just ten games, all with the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints haven’t expressed much confidence in him as their long-term starter.
However, they did just sign him to a one-year, $4 million contract, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Breaking: Jameis Winston is finalizing a deal to return to the Saints, he told CBS Sports.
The deal is for one year and $4M with incentives bringing the value to up to $8M, sources told @AdamSchefter. pic.twitter.com/j7TS5jtGdg

This news came after Derek Carr signed a four-year deal with the Saints, and Winston is likely to be his backup.
Before this announcement, many had speculated that Winston could be on his way back to Tampa Bay or another destination to get an opportunity to be a starter.
Will Winston ever get an opportunity to be a full-time starter in the league again?
Some fans seem to think so.
Jameis should be starting over Carr but most people aren’t ready for that conversation. @jameis1of1 @HoodieJube

Several other fans expressed their belief in Winston, including one fan, who questioned Carr’s long-term health.
This lets me know they don’t trust Carr to stay healthy for the team in the short term or long term. James will see the field and potentially be the reason they make the playoffs as he is an all-around better quarterback, and that’s equal as the car and leave the ship.

Despite initial optimism from fans of Winston, in the NFL, money talks.
Many Saints fans have given gentle reminders about Carr’s contract, and just how much the Saints front office must have liked him.
Lmao all of y’all in the comments must have forgot about Derek carr….

Because Carr signed such a large contract, an injury is likely the only way that Winston will see the field in New Orleans.
While Winston might have been given another opportunity to start on a different team, the reality is that he has signed with the Saints.
