The 2022 NFL Draft might be remembered for its unpredictability.
There’s no definitive number one draft pick hours before the Jacksonville Jaguars go on the clock.
Teams do not have high expectations regarding this year’s quarterback prospects.
Those with two picks in the first round could also be fielding offers for a trade.
Some teams might even look to trade down to score additional picks for next year’s draft.
Those scenarios made this quote shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter spot on.
One veteran front-office executive this morning: “This is the craziest draft I’ve seen in 30 years.”
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 28, 2022
Crazy is an understatement because teams themselves might not even know how the first round will unfold.
Surprises and dark horse picks are bound to happen since some teams do not have high marks for projected first-round choices.
With two picks in the top ten, the New York Giants declared this draft a wide open one after revealing their draft strategy.
Likewise, the 2022 draft isn’t generating much excitement compared to previous editions.
Still, die-hard fans will tune in, hoping their team will land the right player.
But with several scenarios possible, plot twists may happen.
Who Will Go Number One?
Typically, the team with the number one overall selection doesn’t have a hard time finalizing their selection.
They’ve decided weeks before the draft because he is a can’t-miss prospect.
Selecting Trevor Lawrence with last year’s number one pick was a no-brainer for the Jaguars.
This year is a different story, and it’s possible that they haven’t made up their mind.
For now, it seems like their choice will be between Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker.
Walker has the better upside while Hutchinson is more NFL-ready between the two.
The world might not know who Jacksonville will get until the draft starts.
Once that name is submitted, the crazy draft proceeds.
