The Washington Commanders will enter the 2023 NFL season in a unique position.
Due to several unforeseen events, the team might be for sale, given Dan Snyder’s current state of affairs.
On-field, the Commanders are also in a predicament, particularly concerning their quarterback situation.
Recently, the team has left go of both Taylor Heinicke and Carson Wentz, likely leaving the team in the hands of Sam Howell.
Several have questioned the Commanders’ offseason plans, especially since they didn’t pursue Lamar Jackson.
Warren Sharp is a prominent NFL analyst, and he has recently critiqued the Commanders for how they have handled this situation after making it clear they aren’t interested in Jackson.
the Washington franchise hasn't won a playoff game since George W Bush's first term
they haven't had a winning season since Barack Obama was in office

As Sharp points out, the Commanders haven’t had a winning season in seven years, and they haven’t won a playoff game since 2005.
He was particularly angry that the team didn’t even attempt to sign Jackson, a former league MVP and a proven difference-maker when on the field.
#Commanders coach Ron Rivera discussing his QB, says he believes Sam Howell has many of the same qualities of Brock Purdy. … As for adding a high-money QB (Lamar Jackson), he says they never looked into it. “I know he’s a tremendous talent.” But it wasn’t for them.

The Commanders have several young, budding offensive weapons on their team, including Jahan Dotson and Terry McLaurin.
Many analysts, including Sharp, believe that the Commanders’ biggest problem in the last several years has been inconsistency at quarterback.
By adding a player like Jackson, they would have a proven commodity at the position, and he is still in the prime of his career.
The next several weeks should provide much more insight and information into what the Commanders will look like moving forward.
With the draft rapidly approaching, and an impending sale of the team, the Commanders could look vastly different in a matter of months.NEXT: Fans React To Today's Magic Johnson, Commanders News
