A ton of questions remain after the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills Monday Night Football game was postponed after the frightening situation with Damar Hamlin.
It was a battle of AFC playoff teams, and the league announced the game would not be resumed this week.
A flurry of rumored possibilities came out regarding rescheduling the game, and one suggestion was adding an 8th playoff team to each conference.
However, NFL analyst Warren Sharp strongly refuted the idea of adding one more team to each conference, and he brings up some valid points.
adding an 8th playoff team at this point is absolutely insane
everything that teams did after week 16, thinking they were eliminated entering week 17, either benching players or putting guys on IR?
now they have a shot & should have tried to win last week?
makes no sense https://t.co/pfnqnSn2y2

With one week left in the regular season, it would be surprising to see the league add an extra team to each side.
As teams got officially eliminated from playoff contention, some put players on IR and decided to roll with younger players as they get a glimpse of what the future could look like.
Now, however, those teams could be right back into contention with just a couple of days before what could be an important game in Week 18.
There are other scenarios, including the Bills-Bengals game being canceled and not made up, but the NFL needs to come to a decision quickly before the weekend’s slate of games are played.
If the NFL expands to eight teams, that could change the way top teams view Week 18.
This is a difficult situation all around, and the NFL has a ton of options floating around.
