The annual release of the NFL schedule for the upcoming season is starting to become a big deal.
Before, teams just announced the games once the list was available.
Now, they come up with their own gimmicks to share their schedule.
Hands down, the Los Angeles Chargers’ anime video is the best approach to reveal the games.
Like the NFL Draft, teams are also cashing in on this spectacle by gaining views and generating discussion.
But while each team has only 17 regular-season games, determining the schedule of each team is not easy.
A random nugget I learned from a University of Buffalo mathematician who was trying to help the NFL reduce disparities in its annual game schedule: There are more possible NFL schedules (10 to the 300th) for a given year than there are atoms in the universe (10 to the 80th).

ESPN’s Kevin Seifert tweeted, “A random nugget I learned from a University of Buffalo mathematician who was trying to help the NFL reduce disparities in its annual game schedule: There are more possible NFL schedules (10 to the 300th) for a given year than there are atoms in the universe (10 to the 80th).”
Given that it’ difficult to count atoms, that quote highlights the sheer volume of possible schedules for each squad.
Each team might also have requests regarding their schedules, especially if they want to be playing away from their home stadium when a big event happens in their town.
Does The Schedule Affect A Team’s Performance?
It could have an effect if the team would have to travel countless miles to play games.
Likewise, teams playing in the International Series would have to find a way to perform at their best playing in Europe.
However, all teams have their disadvantages to handle and they can’t complain that they got the short end of the stick.
They are earning a nice paycheck to play the game they love, and they must be in shape regardless of travel time and shifting time zones.
