Is Carson Wentz‘s time over as a member of the Washington Commanders?
Recent reporting might lead one to believe that.
Carson Wentz’ time in Washington could be ending as fast as it did in Indianapolis https://t.co/LD8MQpM3pv

With the announcement of Taylor Heinicke getting the start at quarterback on Sunday, Wentz could very well be on the way out.
After being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016, Wentz is now on his third team, after his brief stint with the Indianapolis Colts last season.
Although the Commanders’ game doesn’t mean much on paper considering they are out of playoff contention, starting Heinicke is a statement that the team may be done with Wentz, and will likely look elsewhere in 2023.
With that in mind, who are the most likely candidates to start at quarterback for the Commanders next season?
Heinicke will be a free agent in the offseason but was on a relatively cheap deal with the team.
The team could re-sign him, effectively rendering him a high-quality backup.
They could also look at the draft to find their next franchise quarterback.
If the season were to end today, the Commanders would hold the 14th overall pick.
With collegiate stars such as CJ Stroud, Bryce Love, and Will Levis, among many others making their way into the league in 2023, the Commanders should have a few options at quarterback when it’s their turn to draft if they choose to go that route.
No matter what the Commanders decide to do, or where they decide to acquire a quarterback from, it’s apparent that neither Heinicke nor Wentz is their answer.
