The Dallas Cowboys have a lot on the line this week.
Their trip to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be the end of the Mike McCarthy era, as the veteran HC is reportedly on thin ice.
NFL insider Kyle Brandt believes Jerry Jones could look to make a run at Sean Payton if the Cowboys drop the ball in the playoffs, as Payton has been a lifelong target for Jones.

In a recent interview, the business mogul doubled down on his support for his coach, stating that he won’t make any decision based solely on this upcoming playoff matchup:
“I can’t tell you how much confidence I’ve got in Mike McCarthy and our coaching staff being on top of where we are with this team right now,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, as quoted by Bolavip. “I have complete confidence in this coaching staff. It’s outstanding. That’s it. I don’t need to go into all the positives or minuses. I’ve got a lot more to evaluate him on than this playoff game.”
However, we’ve already heard Jones talk back and forth multiple times, and it’s not like he’s stayed true to his word.
Truth be told, McCarthy’s play-calling and decision-making have always been questionable, and it’s been more than a decade since he made the Super Bowl.
So, all things considered, it would be hard to make a case for him if the Cowboys have another mediocre performance after that humiliating loss in the season finale against the already-eliminated Washington Commanders.
