Under the new deal, his base salary went down from around $24 million to $6.5 million.
However, he could earn up to $8.45 million worth of incentives.
But with the way Week 1 of the 2022 season unfolded, there’s a chance he might switch teams soon.
The question for today is a simple one: Are the Cowboys going to be desperate enough to trade for Jimmy G? My guess is they are & they get him for a mid round, conditional pick.

FOX Sports analyst Nick Wright tweeted, “The question for today is a simple one: Are the Cowboys going to be desperate enough to trade for Jimmy G? My guess is they are & they get him for a mid-round, conditional pick.”
The Dallas Cowboys might need another quarterback after Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury that will require surgery.
ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed that he will miss six to eight weeks.
That’s a long time to be sidelined, especially when the Cowboys have playoff aspirations this year.
Taking Prescott’s place will be Cooper Rush, a player who has one start in five seasons.
Rush is the only other quarterback on the Cowboys’ active roster, and they will need to bring in another one.
Garoppolo would be a good choice for Dallas, given his experience.
Niners Might Hold On To Garoppolo
While Wright’s prediction is plausible, San Francisco’s Week 1 performance against the Chicago Bears makes retaining Garoppolo more important.
Trey Lance had an underwhelming start to the season by completing only 13 passes out of 28 tries for 164 yards and an interception.
The 49ers’ think tank will want Lance to bounce back with a great performance against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.
But if he ends up struggling again in that game, the clamor for Garoppolo will get louder.
Will the 49ers heed that call, especially now that they have a team capable of reaching the playoffs?
