On Tuesday of this week, Aaron Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee Show as he often does throughout the NFL season.
As is with any interview, the internet took one short soundbite from this interview that lasted for over an hour.
This soundbite made it seem like Rodgers is only interested in MVP awards, which was quickly scrutinized by current and former players, along with members of NFL media.
However, this clip was taken out of context, as evidenced by further video provided by NFL insider and sports media personality Jay Williams.
Oh… but everyone keeps arguing with me that @AaronRodgers12 only cares about MVPs. Let’s stop these sound bites floating around & people taking the MVP talk out of context. https://t.co/o8YTDEBax6

In the above clip, Rodgers explains that, if he does play in 2023, he wants to do so for a winning organization.
At no point during this interview does he exclusively talk about MVP awards, or that winning an MVP is the most important accolade to him.
Unfortunately for Rodgers and the McAfee Show, they were painted in a negative light after the initial clip surfaced.
Media members like Williams have tried to correct this wrongdoing, but unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
Rodgers has certainly had his fair share of media blunders in the past, which is just a reality for someone who is in the public eye as much as him.
The next several months should be telling for Rodgers, and we will only learn more about what his future holds as time goes on.
As of right now, the options that are on the table are retirement, returning to the Green Bay Packers, or joining a new team.
