The NFL on CBS Twitter account is at it again, this time taking a sideswipe at the Miami Dolphins.
Yesterday, they trolled the Chicago Bears for comparing the four-touchdown games of Patrick Mahomes to their quarterbacks over the last 50 years.
Now, they are posting a statistic about quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The Dolphins could be a handful in the upcoming season, especially on offense.
Mike Gesicki is a solid option at tight end while Jaylen Waddle looks to improve from his commendable rookie season.
Having a backfield of Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert, Sony Michel, and Myles Gaskin can provide problems for opposing defensive linemen.
Terron Armstead and Connor Williams were also brought in to solidify the protective pocket around the quarterback.
Finally, adding Cedrick Wilson and Tyreek Hill elevates their passing game exponentially.
Even with these additions, Tagovailoa is often seen as the team’s weak link.
He has been modest during his first two seasons but fans expect more from him.
Unfortunately, the problems started to appear when he took the field for the Dolphins.
Some marked improvement in his game could have brought the Dolphins into the NFL playoffs in each of the last two seasons.
Worst yet, he doesn’t throw enough deep balls and is tentative to thread tight windows.
As a result, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. beats him in a stat that the former Alabama standout should dominate.
Number of 40+ Yard Pass TD in NFL career:

The NFL on CBS showed that Beckham has two touchdown passes of at least 40 yards.
In contrast, Tagovailoa only has one.
No Excuse For Tua
This time, Tagovailoa has no excuse to not try the deep ball more often.
Hill and Waddle will beat their defenders and he must deliver the ball to where they are going.
Dolphins fans hope that Tagovailoa under-throwing Hill is an exception and not the norm.
Otherwise, the team will be headed to a disappointing finish.
