The Boston Celtics didn’t make many changes to their roster during the offseason.
They knew that they didn’t have to; the team got to the Finals last season and they were content to run it back with the same team.
The few changes they did make, however, were very promising.
For example, Boston signed Danilo Gallinari, the 13-year veteran forward who has played for the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Atlanta Hawks.
He was set to give the team a lot of space on the floor and some excellent shooting skills.
I wanted to start the regular season with you but…..there will be time! 💪🏻 Meanwhile, our race starts tomorrow. All together. Come on @celtics 🍀#BostonCeltics #NBA pic.twitter.com/ahNOkSVjEM

Sadly, Gallinari injured himself in the summer and the ACL tear in his left knee will prevent him from playing a single game with his new team.
That didn’t stop him from sending a message of support to the Celtics on Monday night.
On Twitter, Gallinari said, “I wanted to start the regular season with you but…..there will be time! Meanwhile, our race starts tomorrow. All together. Come on @celtics.”
Ideally, the Celtics would be relying on Gallinari and his skills in the new season but they will gladly take his support too.
Goodbye For Now, Gallinari
Gallinari might not be a household name but those who pay close attention to the NBA know what he can do.
His career average is 15.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.
And his field goal percentage sits at 42.8% and 38.2% from the three-point line.
Gallinari is exactly the sort of role player that Boston wanted to boost its roster.
He would have come off the bench and given great assists to Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and the rest of the squad.
Plus he has a bunch of postseason experience too so he could have helped guide the Celtics in their next playoff run.
He can still do all of that – someday.
