The wild and exhausting drama surrounding Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets is (seemingly) over for now.
Both sides have come to an agreement and Durant is now planning to stick around with his team for the foreseeable future.
The long national nightmare is over and we can all move on.
But what happened and why did a trade package for Durant never come together?
Crazy that teams who want Kevin Durant might have to, you know, give something up of value to get him

The Nets were asking for an awful lot for Durant, including multiple All-Stars and future first-round draft picks.
Some people thought that the Nets were being far too demanding while others, like Doug Norrie, made a valid point.
“Crazy that teams who want Kevin Durant might have to, you know, give something up of value to get him,” Norrie said on Twitter.
Yes, the Nets wanted a lot for Durant but it cannot be denied that he’s one of the top players in the league and honestly is worth a huge haul.
Kevin Comes Home
Some people think the Nets were asking for so much because they were trying to sabotage any possible deal.
They knew no one could meet their demands and, therefore, Durant would never go anywhere.
Other people assume that the Nets really were open to losing Durant but they just legitimately desired a lot in exchange for him.
We will never really know what the front office in Brooklyn was thinking but, in the end, it all worked out well for them.
They now get to retain Durant, a legitimate superstar talent, and they can get back to the work at hand: becoming a true playoff contender.
It’s been a long journey but this rocky road looks to have finally come to an end.
