Netflix is the perfect way to sit back, relax, and completely turn your brain off.
They have a show for every taste, from the new Masters of the Universe: Revelation to Stranger Things.
After a long day of work, you don’t want to be stopped by Netflix not allowing you to sign in.
Netflix Won’t Let Me Sign In
Netflix has a few options if you are having a difficult time signing in.
While the majority of solutions are based on your device, there is one solution that you will want to try first before going into each device’s separate solutions.
You will want to accurately type in your username and password.
Check to see if your caps lock is on.
Turn it off if it is unless your whole password is made up of capital letters.
If you are unsure of your password, you will want to use the “Reset your password” option.
You will also want to make sure that you are using the correct email.
You will need to know the first and last name attached to the account and the credit or debit card number that you use to pay for Netflix.
Once you have figured out your email, you can then try to figure out your password.
Changing Your Password
There are three ways to reset your Netflix account’s password.
You can use your email, your phone number, or your billing information.
To do so, you will need to go to Netflix’s login support site.
You will want to select “Text Message (SMS)”.
Enter the phone number attached to the account and then click “Text Me”.
You will be sent a code to reset your password, but the code expires after 20 minutes.
When you use Netflix’s login support site, you also have the option to have Netflix send you a link to reset your password.
By hitting “Email me”, you will be sent a link that will expire in 24 hours.
If you have not received the email, you may want to check your spam emails.
You can also try adding “[email protected]“ to your email contacts and request that Netflix send you another password reset email.
Should the link not work, begin deleting all emails pertaining to resetting your Netflix password.
Then you will need to go to “netflix.com/clearcookies”.
This needs to be typed out in order for it to work.
It will immediately send you to the sign-up or sign-in screen.
You will then need to go back to the login support site and have another password reset email sent to your email.
You may need to wait a minimum of five hours if your emails are not going through, as it may be an issue with your email provider.
If you’re still experiencing problems, you might need to try logging in on another device.
By selecting “I don’t remember my email or phone”, you will be asked for your first name, last name, and credit or debit card number.
Then, press “Find Account”.
This option isn’t available in all regions.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Blu-Ray Player
Using a Blu-ray player to watch Netflix can be tricky at first, but there are multiple sign-in options.
You are going to need your smartphone in order to sign in, whichever way you choose.
Once you have selected Netflix from your Blu-Ray player, choose “Sign in from Web”.
Go to neflix.com/tv8 and enter the code that you see on your computer.
You will then need to use your sign-in code.
You may or may not be asked to sign with your email and password.
You can also use a QR code to sign in to Netflix.
You can use your search engine’s camera to view the QR code or use a QR code reader.
When done correctly, you will see a banner for “netflix.com/tv8”.
You will click it, punch in the codes, and sign in just the same as you would by choosing “Sign in from Web”.
If Netflix is giving you any kind of problems with your Blu-Ray, it may be a sign that Netflix needs to be reset.
You’ll find this by going to the sign-out screen.
Those who are stuck on an error screen can reach the same settings by selecting “More Info” or “More Details”.
If you are looking at the Netflix home screen, you can select settings.
Those stuck on any other screen can use their remote’s directional buttons to punch in the code “up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, up, up, up, up”.
You will need to select “reset”.
If reset isn’t there, you will need to choose “sign out” or “deactivate”.
If none of that works, you may need to reset your Blu-Ray player.
You may also want to try resetting your WiFi, improving your WiFi, or connecting your Blu-Ray player directly into your modem.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Computer
You will go to netflix.com/clearcookies.
It will clear your cookies and log you out of your account.
After the cookies have been cleared, you can try signing in again.
If this doesn’t work, you will want to ensure that cookies are turned on for your browser and update your browser.
For Chrome, click “Menu”, which is the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and below the X used to close tabs.
Once the menu pops open, click settings, the third to last option.
In settings, you will need to click “Privacy and Security”.
The option, “Clear cookies and site data when you quit Chrome” should be turned off, meaning the slider for this is gray.
People who are using Microsoft Edge as their browser will need to select the “…” that is in the upper right corner of your screen.
Then, you’ll need to go into your settings.
From there, you are going to choose “Advanced settings” and view them.
There will be a tab labeled “Cookies”.
You will want to go there to make sure that you haven’t disabled the “Don’t block cookies”.
Firefox users are going to have to click the icon that looks like three lines on a piece of paper that is in the upper right corner.
Click “Options” and then “Privacy”, which will be on the left.
In the history tab, you will need to click the “Firefox Will:” menu and select “Remember History”.
For Mac users who have Safari, you will need to choose “Preferences” from the Safari menu.
You then need to choose the “Privacy” option.
Look for the privacy option that says, “Cookies and website data,” and choose “Allow from websites I visit”.
You will save your setting by closing the Preferences tab.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Android
On Android phones, if your Netflix app isn’t working, you can always sign into Netflix from your browser.
If it works, then you should be able to sign in on the app.
Just make sure you are manually putting your email and password in.
If you can’t log in from the browser and you know that you have properly signed up for your subscription to Netflix, then you will need to visit “netflix.com/clearcookies”.
If this doesn’t work, you may need to disable Google’s Smart Lock for Netflix.
You can go to passwords.google.com to see your passwords.
If you click the trash can icon near each password, you can delete it.
If you want to see your password for a website, you can click the eye icon near the password.
The login troubles may be caused by some of the data in the app.
You will need to go into the settings of your phone.
First, you will choose “General”, and then you’ll choose “Applications”.
You may need to click “Application Manager”, but you may also skip over this step if you are already looking at a list of your apps.
Find Netflix and click “Storage”.
If you can’t find Netflix, look in your “Downloaded” tab.
Choose to clear the data or storage and finish by clicking okay.
If none of this helps, it may be a problem with your WiFi connection, or you could be putting in your email or password incorrectly.
You can try using different WiFi connections to see if that helps.
Should all else fail, you can get in contact with Netflix.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Apple
Apple devices are quite different from Androids, and the troubleshooting process reflects that.
The first step is to get rid of your saved Netflix passwords.
You will find your passwords in your iCloud Keychain.
For iPhones and iPads, you will need to open up the settings menu, click your name, and then choose “iCloud”.
Click “Keychain” and then choose “Advanced”.
Then, turn off the “Approve with security code” feature.
You will then need to go to check any Apple device you are watching Netflix on and make sure that iCloud Keychain is turned off.
Mac users will find it is much simpler to turn off iCloud Keychain.
All you need to do is go to your Apple menu and choose “System Preferences”.
Click “iCloud” and then find and click “Account Details”.
Turn off the “Approve with security code” feature and then turn off the iCloud Keychain.
If this doesn’t help, it may be a good idea to restart your Apple device.
To restart your Apple device, press and hold the lower volume button and the side button.
The power slider will appear, and you will need to drag it all the way down.
It will take about 30 seconds.
To turn your device back on, simply press and hold the same buttons from before until you see the Apple logo pop up on your screen.
You can also hold the sleep button until a red slider shows up.
Drag the slider to turn your device off for at least 10 seconds before you hit the sleep button again to turn your device back on.
You can try to log into your Netflix account again at this point.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Roku
First, check on your internet connection status.
You will go to “settings”, then “network”, and finally choose “Check Connection” to see the strength of your WiFi.
Netflix requires a strong, stable internet connection in order to stream.
For the best results, plug your ethernet cable into the streaming media player.
This gives your device the strongest and most direct connection to the internet.
You want to soft reset your media player if the previous step did not seem to work.
All you have to do to reset your Roku is to completely unplug it for a minute or so and then plug it back in.
Sometimes, turning a device off and back on again is all that needs to be done in order to fix a problem.
You should also check for updates periodically to ensure the best experience streaming your favorite shows and movies.
You can see that Netflix or your media player needs an update by going to your settings, choosing “System”, and then “Software update”.
By clicking “Check now”, your device will search for any updates for your system and all of your applications, such as Netflix.
If there are no updates or the update doesn’t seem to help, you can always try deleting the Netflix app and then re-installing it.
You will need to delete it from your channel lineup and the Roku Channel Store.
By hitting the star button on your Roku remote when pointing at the Netflix app, you will open up the individual app options menu.
Choose “Remove channel” and then you will need to confirm your decision.
In your home menu, choose “Streaming Channels” to open the store menu.
Find the Netflix channel and click the “OK” button.
Again, you will choose “Remove channel” and confirm that you want the channel removed.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Smart TV
When Netflix doesn’t want to work on your smart TV, the first step is the tried-and-true method of turning your smart TV off and turning it back on again.
However, this solution doesn’t solve every problem.
Similar to the streaming media players, you will want to uninstall the Netflix application.
Starting in your home menu, you will want to go through your apps tab in order to find your settings.
From here, find Netflix in your list of applications and choose delete.
To reinstall Netflix, go back to your Smart Hub and press the magnifying glass.
You can then type Netflix into the search bar or use the voice command.
Click the app and hit install.
For people with a Samsung Smart TV, you may want to consider turning Instant On/Off.
While this may boot up your system quickly, it often doesn’t work well with some apps.
It also causes a lot of wear on your device.
You can check for a firmware update by going into the support menu of your smart TV.
Keeping your devices updated will help your technology experience go much smoother.
You can also always watch Netflix through your smart TV’s internet browser with netflix.com/tv8.
Your final option is to reset your Smart Hub.
When you are at the home menu, you will want to go to settings.
Then you will go into the support tab and choose “Device Care”.
By clicking the “Self-Diagnosis”, you will see that the bottom option is “Reset Smart Hub”.
Your smart TV will ask you for the PIN.
If you have never set a PIN for your TV, then it is 0000, which is the standard default.
It may be time for a new TV if you still can’t log into Netflix or other streaming services.
Can’t Sign Into Netflix On Gaming Console
Netflix is capable of running on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox series S and X, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and the PlayStation 5.
Luckily, all the Xbox versions of Netflix are the same between the generations and the same applies to Netflix on the PlayStation consoles.
For Xbox owners, you will want to scroll over to Netflix and hit the options button, which is the button to the lower right of the Xbox home button on your controller with the three horizontal lines.
Choose “quit”, which is the bottom option.
You may need to restart your Xbox.
Power down your Xbox and then unplug your power cable.
Press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds and release.
Give your Xbox a minute to fully shut down.
Plug your power cable back in, turn your Xbox back on, and then try Netflix again.
For Xbox 360, you may find that you have to hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds instead of five seconds.
PlayStation owners will need to start their troubleshooting by restarting their console.
If that doesn’t work, you will need to check for an update in your console’s settings.
You can also check to see if Netflix needs an update.
Hover over the Netflix application and press the options button, which is to the right of the giant home button in the middle on your controller.
Once the options menu is open, choose “Check for Updates”.
You can also change the DNS settings on your PlayStation.
To do this, choose “set up internet connection” and then choose “custom”.
Then choose your WiFi and hit “DNS settings” and manually put in your DNS.
Your primary should be “8.8.8.8“ and your secondary should be “8.8.4.4”. The rest of the features can be automatic.
The Importance Of Checking Your Email And Password
None of these technical fixes will work if you aren’t entering the right information.
It is important to closely and thoroughly read through your email when you’re typing it and afterward.
Make sure that the proper letters are capitalized and the “@(insert email service).com” part of your email is correct.
If you are someone with multiple emails, you may want to try the other ones just in case you are mixing up each email Netflix is attached to.
It can be so difficult to keep track of the online services you use and which email goes to which service.
If nothing else seems to work, you can always call to get into direct contact with a Netflix employee by using their Live Chat feature or calling them at 1-844-505-2993.
Netflix members with codes will have a shorter wait time than those without codes.
Although technology and its troubles can be enough to make even the calmest person upset, it is important to think slowly and rationally while dealing with technological problems.
If Netflix or whichever customer service team isn’t able to help, you may also want to check with your internet provider.
