In his first two starts, he has yet to allow an earned run.
In 9 1/3 innings, his ERA remains phenomenal.
The Yankees’ starting staff is starting to stiffen up a little bit and prove to be a major strength for the team in 2022.
On Twitter, Cortes made sure to thank the Yankees coaching staff and fans for believing in him and supporting him throughout the process, crediting them for his hot start.
For the kids out there that dont believe. Trust me it is really worth obligating yourself to be the best version of yourself. That holds a lot if weight. And I can’t thank enough the support staff and the fans for always making me bring the best out of myself pic.twitter.com/GeoIqDzk3w

Cortes On A Roll
It’s nice to see Cortes be so grateful for everybody’s support.
With great support usually comes great success and Cortes is certainly feeling the effects of both.
Cortes had a solid 2021, going 2-3 with a 2.90 ERA in 22 appearances and 14 starts.
Thus far, it appears that success has carried over into the 2022 season and Cortes looks to be a huge piece for the Yankees in their starting rotation to go along with Gerrit Cole and Luis Severino.
Cortes, 27, seems to have a very bright future ahead of him as he looks to become an anchor on the Yanks’ pitching staff.
A good start such as this is always a good sign.
Maybe it’s a sign of things to come for him later in his career.
But to have started off the season with a perfect ERA is a good omen in its own right.
We’ll see if he can keep it up and help lead the Yankees to October.
Their starting rotation is becoming a little stronger and could be the absolute strength of the team going forward.
