In less than a single day, Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka has shaken up his team and all of the NBA.
When news broke that Udoka had an intimate consensual relationship with a female staffer and faces a year-long suspension, people were shocked.
Boston fans were particularly upset about all of this, of course, since Udoka had a stellar first year coaching the team and now may be gone for all of the 2022-23 season.
But everyone associated with the league had an opinion.
The handling of the Ime Udoka situation has been awful. From it leaking out to the coverage to the rampant speculation and putting people’s names and reputation up while speculation is disgusting and gross. No one needs these details. These are real people in a messed up spot.

For example, NBA writer Keith Smith is disappointed by everything related to the Udoka scandal.
Smith opened up on Twitter:
“The handling of the Ime Udoka situation has been awful. From it leaking out to the coverage to the rampant speculation and putting people’s names and reputation up while speculation is disgusting and gross. No one needs these details. These are real people in a messed up spot.”
This is a sentiment shared by many people who feel that the tabloid nature of this story and the way it is being handled is really unbecoming of the Celtics.
Udoka On The Way Out
The manner in which the news was released really did leave a lot to be desired.
At first, all we knew was that Udoka did something wrong and faced suspension.
But because so little information was given from the team’s front office, rampant speculation was everywhere.
Of course, all was eventually revealed but even though we still have more facts there are people who are spreading rumors and questioning things without any solid facts.
The Celtics just had one of their best seasons and it’s a real shame that they are dealing with this now just weeks before they attempt to come back and have another terrific year.
