Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets is known as an assassin on the court, a sharp-shooter who can pull up and score from anywhere.

He is also known as someone who isn’t afraid of seeming somewhat bitter against fans online and has gotten in a spat of Twitter beefs over the year.

Not a lot seems to impact Durant and he comes across as a bit cold at times.

However, he should also be known as someone who delivered one of the most emotional and heartfelt moments in all of NBA history.

Eight years ago, Kevin Durant won the NBA's most coveted award.

Eight years ago, Durant was awarded the NBA MVP trophy while still playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It was a huge moment for the young Durant and confirmation that he was one of the best up-and-coming players in the league.

During his speech, he thanked his team and coaches but it was a moment between him and his mother that was really special.

Citing his mom as the “real MVP”, Durant made it clear that he owed it all to her.

It truly was a moment unlike any other in Durant’s career and one of the most special in all of NBA history.

The Real MVP

Durant earned his MVP trophy that year.

The superstar made 32 points, 5.5 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game that season.

It was a huge season for the star and also a sign of things to come.

Since then, Durant has become a two-time champion, four-time scoring champion, is 12-time All-Star, and was the Finals MVP twice.

As for Durant’s mother, Wanda, she is still a fixture at many of her son’s games and a huge part of his life.
