The Los Angeles Lakers were taken down by the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night in a stunning and shocking and truly embarrassing 123-95 defeat.
If you follow the Lakers then you know that the word “embarrassing” has been used a lot to describe the team this season.
But it doesn’t get much worse than what happened on Sunday, as LA was solidly overcome by a team that was even further down in the Western Conference standings than them.
In other words, this was a game that the Lakers should not have lost.
So why did they and who is to blame for it?
While not all of the blame can be placed squarely at the feet of head coach Frank Vogel, he is receiving the most disdain from LA fans today.
Indeed, even those who have long supported Vogel are starting to question if he should stick around as coach.
It took me longer than it probably should have to get here, but Frank Vogel needs to go, for his sake and the sake of the Lakers’ season.

Through even the worst moments of the Lakers’ season so far, Vogel has retained the support of die-hard LA fans.
But something changed on Sunday night and now it seems like everyone is calling for his head.
Bye Bye, Frank
People who study the Lakers for a living are even now thinking that Vogel might not have much longer.
I… don’t think Frank’s job is safe.

After an epic meltdown like the one the Lakers had on Sunday, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Vogel relieved of his duties immediately.
But just because fans and analysts surrounding the team want Vogel to go doesn’t mean it’ll happen.
However, the people calling for Vogel to resign aren’t just saying that because they’re mad – they have a legitimate point.
I’m so confused how Frank Vogel still has a job??
Any other head coach of a team with as much expectations as the Lakers had coming into this season would’ve been fired a LONG time ago.

How can Vogel remain in charge if the team has fallen so far below all expectations?
The Lakers are nowhere near where they were supposed to be at this point and you have to admit that Vogel deserves his fair share of the blame.
