There can only be one winner of the first overall pick in the NBA draft.
This year’s winner goes to the Detroit Pistons.
For the first time since 1970, the Pistons will make the first pick in a draft.
This franchise has been stuck in mediocrity for such a long time, but this pick can be the start of a new era.
However, the one option we have not thought about is trading the pick.
The Pistons trading the pick seems ludicrous.
They are passing up a potential franchise guy in Cade Cunningham.
However, they can potentially gain more than that.
There have been some early talks about trading that pick for multiple pieces.
After winning the 2021 NBA draft lottery on Tuesday night, the Detroit Pistons are open to trading the No. 1 overall pick.
According to Rod Beard of the Detroit News, Pistons general manager Troy Weaver said Wednesday that trading the top pick is "an option."— Eric👀Schefter (@EKaplan15) June 24, 2021
It is good for a team like this to get as many great pieces as possible.
Having the number one pick is a good way to start that process.
If the Pistons were to trade the pick, then what NBA teams would be the ideal trade partner?
Here are the two teams that should pick up the phone and call the Pistons for that number one pick.
2. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers are still in their post-LeBron James rebuild.
They have had multiple lottery picks, but no All-Stars have come out of it.
This year they ended up with the third overall pick.

So many options come with the third pick.
The Cavaliers need a lot of help across the roster.
Their arguable best player right now is Collin Sexton.
He is a young guard that has a great knack for scoring with potential that is still untapped.
However, he is in line for an extension.
Is he worthy of a big extension?
That is a question the Cavaliers need to ask themselves.
Some are in the mind-frame that he is not.
They need an All-Star caliber player on the roster, and Sexton might not be it.
Calling the Pistons to work out a trade will be a good idea.
Trade Offer: Cavaliers trade Collin Sexton and third overall pick to the Pistons for first overall pick
1. New Orleans Pelicans
A lot has been going on with the New Orleans Pelicans as of late.
They recently fired their head coach, Stan Van Gundy.
There are some roster decisions that need to be made, including Lonzo Ball entering restricted free agency.
The biggest issue is the rumors of their star player, Zion Williamson, wanting to already leave the team.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been unable to put together the right elements to make Zion Williamson and his family happy, per @TheAthleticNBA

The Pelicans need to hurry and think fast as to how to keep him happy.
He was the first overall pick two years ago and has not disappointed.
In two NBA seasons, Williamson has established himself as their franchise guy.
The Pelicans can potentially search for a star guard to pair alongside Williamson.
However, there are none in the market that will fit the timeline of Williamson’s.
They should be looking for a young guard that can develop with him.
That is where Cunningham comes into play.
Cunningham and Williamson could be the next future dynamic duo of this league.
Trade Offer: Pelicans trade Brandon Ingram, 10th overall pick, and 2022 first-round pick to the Pistons for first overall pick and Josh Jackson
