With the NBA offseason approaching, that means several coaching jobs need to be filled.
Head coaching opportunities have been opening up very quickly in the past week.
Rick Carlisle is one of the those coaches aiming for a new gig.
However, he left his last team as they are going through a rough patch within the franchise.
Carlisle was the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks for 13 seasons.
He was even able to win them their first title in franchise history.
Now he is on the market.
Every team with an opening needs to call him and gauge his interest.
Carlisle is a veteran head coach in this league with a winning pedigree as well.
What NBA teams are best for the former championship coach?
Here are three teams that need to hire him.
3. Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are once again looking for a new head coach.
They recently fired head coach Nate Bjorkgren, after just one season in charge.

Bjorkgren had a hard time trying to connect with the team and earn their trust.
Carlisle can easily fix that issue.
Players respect Carlisle’s leadership and vision.
Furthermore, he has a history with the Pacers.
He was their assistant coach under Larry Bird for a few seasons.
Then he was hired by Bird to be the head coach in 2003.
He had a good first couple of years with the Pacers, even leading them to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Carlisle can definitely make his return to Indiana and lead this team to the NBA playoffs once again.
2. Portland Trail Blazers
For nine seasons, the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers has been Terry Stotts.
Unfortunately, he has been let go after eight straight postseason appearances.
After a fourth first-round playoff exit in five seasons, the Portland Trail Blazers and coach Terry Stotts mutually agreed to part ways on Friday, sources told ESPN.

Stotts was successful, but could never get the Blazers over the hump.
Constant first-round exits were his downfall.
Now they are in the market for a head coach, so why not Carlisle?
Damian Lillard is a superstar in this league.
He needs a new coach and Carlisle is the perfect choice.
A new voice in the locker room is the perfect recipe for a Trail Blazers team that seems stale.
The championship pedigree can help this Trail Blazers franchise get out of the first round.
1. Boston Celtics
The best option for Carlisle is the Boston Celtics head coaching vacancy.
Brad Stevens has stepped down as head coach to take over the President of Operations job.
The Celtics are in good shape as they have a superstar in the making with Jayson Tatum.
This roster isn’t complete, but they have a great deal of talent.
Carlisle can easily get the best out of this group.
Furthermore, he was a member of the 80s Celtics teams.
Carlisle never worked for the Celtics before.
However, this might be the time to bring him back.
Rick Carlisle won a championship with the Celtics and they have a coaching vacancy + two all-stars to boot.
Rick Carlisle will be the next head coach of the Boston Celtics.

Stevens was a great head coach in his own right.
Now the Celtics can bring in another head coach.
Do not be surprised to see Carlisle as the new man on the sideline for the Celtics.
