It feels as if the NBA has never had so many great scorers at one time.
In fact, it feels as if every night gives another example of a superstar leading his team with a shocking number of points.
But it doesn’t just feel like that – facts and numbers back up the fact that the league is compromised of some amazing point-makers.

As highlighted by Adam Zagoria on Twitter, there have been 136 40-point games in the NBA this season by a whopping 44 different players.
The NBA record is currently 142 40-point games from 13 different players back in 1961-62.
Unless something crazy happens, this season is sure to eclipse that one, possibly within just a couple of weeks.
That means we are currently in the midst of a golden age of 40-point games right now.
In many ways, the NBA has never been so competitive, so skillful, and so exciting.
The latest 40-pointer came from Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, who put on a clinic Monday night.
But obviously, he isn’t the only one setting the scoreboard on fire lately.
Others like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, LeBron James, and Jayson Tatum have all scored multiple 40-pointers.
Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets should also be singled out because he scored more than 40 points for three games in a row.
Others like Donovan Mitchell reached as high as 71 points this season.
There are a few more months left in the NBA season, which means more players will reach the 40-point threshold and will continue to blast past this long-held record.
