Despite coming out to mixed reviews, Space Jam: A New Legacy took the top spot at the box office this weekend.
The LeBron James-led film took down Marvel’s Black Widow as the highest-grossing movie of the weekend.

The movie featured James and the Looney Tunes taking on Al-G Rhythm and his “Goon Squad”.
This “Goon Squad” featured stars from both the NBA and WNBA.
Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Diana Taurasi, and Nneka Ogwumike all suited up for the film.
There were three NBA stars from both the past and the present who would have brought a lot to the movie if they were featured in it.
3. Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant would have made for a very fun addition to the Space Jam roster.
There are multiple nicknames that Warner Brothers could have played with in the character design for Durant.
Two nicknames that stand out for Durant are the “Slim Reaper” and “Durantula”.
Both of which would have made for an incredible character design.
Along with this, having another big name like Durant in this movie would have brought even more people into theaters to watch it.
However, considering the NBA rivalry Durant and James have built over the past few seasons, it makes sense as to why he did not get a call to be in the film.
2. Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry is another one of James’s longtime rivals who would have been a perfect fit in Space Jam 2.
Curry is one of the best shooters the game has ever seen and at times seems as if he has out-of-this-world abilities.
This is something that could have been highlighted in the movie and he could have been a lights-out shooter from anywhere on the court.
With a nickname like “Chef Curry”, Warner Brothers would not have to spend much time thinking up a character design.
Along with this, having both Splash Brothers in the movie would have allowed for really cool dialogue between the two.
With Curry being one of the biggest names in the league and having international appeal, having him in the movie could have boosted Space Jam 2’s first week sales even higher than they already were.
1. Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan was reportedly going to be featured.

However, Jordan did not end up making an appearance.
Having Jordan join James on the Tune Squad or having the two face off would have made for an amazing movie.
Along with this, it would have tied together the original to the sequel.
Despite being retired for over almost 20 years now, Jordan is still one of the biggest names in basketball.
Seeing Jordan on the silver screen again would have made for an incredible high point in the movie.
Also, it would have drawn in many more fans who fell in love with the original movie.
Lastly, the character design for Jordan would have been great.
Likely, Warner Brothers would have modeled him after a goat similar to how Taurasi was modeled after a snake.
