The Subway Series matchup between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets always generates a ton of buzz, regardless of their place in the standings.
But this year, with both teams gunning for the World Series, it’s even more fun.
The intensity has been ratcheted up as both teams fight for New York City supremacy.
Interestingly though, even athletes from other sports are invested in this series, most notably Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell.
As it turns out, Mitchell is a huge fan of the Mets.
Last night, his Mets picked up a 6-3 victory over the Yankees, prompting him to take to Twitter and note how “quiet” Yankee fans were.
Yankee fans real quiet rn 😭😭😭

Mitchell Enjoys Mets Vs. Yankees
Mitchell sure seems to be having a lot of fun during this Subway Series, and he definitely had a lot of fun last night watching his Mets take down the best team in all of baseball.
That’s what sports and rivalries are all about.
One can expect that many Yankee fans decided to chirp back at him, but that didn’t seem to spoil his fun.
He may be a superstar in the NBA, but he’s also a high-quality fan and is having a lot of fun repping his Mets as they won round one of the matchup this week.
You can bet he’ll be cheering them on in full force the rest of the way as they look to challenge the Yankees for New York bragging rights this October.
While the Yankee fans were “quiet”, Mitchell was louder than ever and made sure to brag about it on Twitter.
We’ll see who has bragging rights at the end of this series.
