Two of the most popular teams in the NBA – the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks – also happen to be two of the worst.
The Lakers are currently barely in contention for the NBA Play-In Tournament with a record of 27-35.
Meanwhile, the Knicks are doing even worse, sitting at 12th place in the East with a record of 25-37.
Despite all of this, they are still two of the most publicized teams in the entire league.
This is leading some NBA fans to protest online.

This popular NBA meme making the rounds is demanding the association stops “putting the Lakers and Knicks on national television.”
It’s a harsh thing to demand but you can’t really blame the fans for doing so because things really are that bad.
Downfall
There was a time when every game for the Lakers or Knicks was appointment television.
But that was a long time ago and both teams are struggling so much that it’s not even fun to watch.
Still, it’s not uncommon to see many Lakers and Knicks games on ESPN, TNT, or even ABC.
But there comes a point when the NBA should turn its spotlight to other teams, teams that actually have games that are fun to watch.
That’s a major argument against airing the Lakers or Knicks: neither of them are enjoyable to watch anymore.
So many of their defeats are huge blowouts, pitiful showings that are quite frankly very boring.
Why would NBA fans want to subject themselves to that when there are so many other teams in the league deserving of their time and attention?
The rest of this season’s TV schedule has been set but if the Lakers and Knicks don’t get much better soon, you can bet they won’t be on television as often next year.
