When next season begins, it’s unlikely you’ll see Russell Westbrook playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
This season went so poorly for the purple and gold that they are willing to do whatever it takes to alleviate Westbrook’s contract and put this dreaded season behind them.
Everyone is wondering where Westbrook will land: maybe it’ll be the Portland Trail Blazers or Detroit Pistons or New York Knicks.
Here’s another name to add to the possible list: the Charlotte Hornets.
The Charlotte Hornets are reportedly emerging as potential suitors for a Russell Westbrook trade this off-season.

The latest rumor says that Hornets are emerging as possible suitors for Westbrook and his enormous contract.
There is no doubt that the Lakers would gladly hear their offer for Westbrook but some Hornets fans are wondering why their team would want to do this.
Westbrook With LaMelo
Westbrook is a lot better than this last season suggests.
He certainly had a rough year but there is hope that in the right situation with the right team, he can be a great player once again.
The Hornets see Westbrook as someone who could help their star player, LaMelo Ball.
There is no doubt that youthful, promising Ball is the future of the Hornets but he could use some help.
If Charlotte decides to move forward on any possible trade talks, they will have to move around a few contracts to get it done.
Thankfully, they have the money to make this happen.
Although, if it does go down you could likely say goodbye to Gordon Hayward and a few other Hornets stars.
With some work and accounting, the Hornets would be able to produce the $47 million promised to Westbrook next year.
It’s unlikely the Lakers will get many teams interested in Westbrook so if this curiosity is legitimate, they should definitely pay attention to it.
