Even though their previous season didn’t end the way they wanted, most people expected to see a lot more from Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets in the season ahead.
However, based on the latest reporting that sounds like it might not be happening.
Just days into the official NBA offseason, we are already hearing about a potential shake-up in the league that could greatly change things.
Sources: Kyrie Irving, Nets are at impasse in conversations about his future in Brooklyn, clearing way for the seven-time All-Star to consider the open market. Lakers and Knicks expected to emerge among potential suitors.

Shams Charania is saying that Irving and the Nets are at an “impasse in conversations” about the future of the All-Star in Brooklyn.
That means there is a strong chance that he will pack up and move to another team.
Speaking of other teams, Charania stats that both the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are expected to emerge as potential new homes for Irving.
Will Irving stay in the New York area or head to the west coast to work with his old teammate?
Or will this all work out and he remain in Brooklyn?
Irving En Route
Irving comes with his fair share of controversies.
Between his COVID vaccine stance, his willingness to get abrasive with outspoken fans, or his desire to speak his mind just about anything, Irving doesn’t go long without creating some headlines.
That means that whichever teams ends up with Irving will also end up with his baggage.
However, his skill cannot be denied.
When he played last season, Irving was putting up 27.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.
Yes, he can ruffle some feathers and, yes, he seems to tire of his teams quickly, but Irving is still one of the best point guards in the league.
There’s good reason why he’ll be a hot commodity if he decides to leave the Nets.
