The Charlotte Hornets are a promising, up-and-coming team within the NBA but they are still a few pieces away from being ready for the Finals.
That was obvious this year as they failed to make the playoffs after some moments of brilliance earlier in the season.
This all led to the firing of head coach James Borrego and started one of the most-watched coaching searches in the league.
As the franchise’s coaching search nears an end, the Charlotte Hornets are set to bring Mike D’Antoni to meet with owner Michael Jordan later this week, sources tell ESPN. D’Antoni will follow Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson, who’s expected to meet with Jordan on Tuesday.

And now they are getting down to the finalists.
Apparently, the Hornets are bringing Mike D’Antoni in to meet with team owner Michael Jordan later this week.
That will come right after Jordan meets with Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson, whose name has been tossed around as a possible coach for several teams across the association.
This all means that the Hornets are very close to naming their next head coach.
Will the new guy be able to take the team to the next level?
Will Buzz City Be Back?
The Hornets have a few very promising players on their team, and they’re one of the youngest squads in the NBA.
The star player, of course, is LaMelo Ball, the former Rookie of the Year who put up 20.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.6 assists this past season.
Despite several superstars-in-the-making, the team is still falling short of making the playoffs.
Obviously, the front office wants to do what’s needed to make this team truly competitive in a very deep, talented Eastern Conference.
Ball certainly has the ability to be one of the best point guards in the league and lead his team far.
He just needs the right coach to make that happen.
In just a few weeks, we will know who Charlotte thinks that coach is.
