Unless something crazy and unexpected happens, Victor Wembanyama will definitely be the number-one pick in the next NBA Draft.
Not only will he be number one, but he might also be the most exciting and league-altering top pick that the association has seen since LeBron James.
People have suspected that Wembanyama could be a phenomenal player for a long time now but he proved just how special he will be the other night when he scored 37 points in a widely-viewed amateur game.

After that impressive showing, there are some analysts and fans concerned that the chance of landing Wembanyama could start a “race to the bottom” in order to secure the number one draft pick next year.
One general manager told Adrian Wojnarowski, “it feels like last night will start a race to the bottom like we’ve never seen.”
Every team in the league wants Wembanyama but only one can actually get him.
What Wembanyama Will Do
He is a player unlike any other in the league and that is what makes Wembanyama so exciting.
The young French superstar-in-the-making is a 7-foot-4 athlete who is very thin and very fast and capable of blocks, rebounds, and incredible shooting too.
Some have said he’s the biggest “unicorn” that the league has ever seen and there is no doubt that he could literally transform the fate of any team.
How bad will this battle to get the number-one pick become?
There are a few teams who have no chance of making the playoffs this season – will they just throw in the towel and tank hard in an attempt to have the best chance of owning the top pick in the next draft?
Don’t be shocked if a few teams around the association take it very, very easy as the season progresses and their win-loss columns become lopsided.
