The Boston Celtics needed all hands on deck to get the job done vs. the Miami Heat, but they may have been missing one key element.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, big man Robert Williams III was dealing with a stomach bug during their pivotal Game 7.
As a matter of fact, Williams actually had to leave the game to throw up and had to deal with the virus for several days, per Charania’s report.
"I'm told that Robert Williams was throwing up during (Game 7)."

Williams still managed to play through it and stayed on the floor for 14 minutes, scoring 8 points on 4/5 shooting.
Notably, that shouldn’t be an excuse for why the Celtics weren’t able to get the job done, as Williams averaged roughly 23 minutes per game.
Williams is the Celtics’ best rebounder and rim protector and he did an outstanding job of messing with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler’s offensive rhythm in Games 4 through 6, swatting shots and disruptive the Heat’s offensive flow more often than not.
Still, the Celtics needed way more from their two best players, and while one could give Jayson Tatum a pass after he twisted his ankle and still had a double-double, Jaylen Brown left a lot to be desired throughout the whole series.
The Celtics have some figuring out to do in the offseason, and Brad Stevens might need to make some tough calls and decisions as he plans ahead for the future of this organization, and that may include finding a new home for Brown.
