Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans has been making headlines all season long and he hasn’t even played a game.
A right foot injury was reported for the star player over the summer.
This caused Williamson to sit out at the beginning of the season.
But then the beginning of the season turned in a whole lot more time.
Williamson’s recovery was delayed multiple times, eventually leading to the big man leaving New Orleans to rehab in the Pacific Northwest.
Some people thought things were so bad that he might not ever return to the Pelicans.
Pelicans say Zion Williamson is showing improved bone healing in right foot and will gradually progress to full weight-bearing exercise and basketball activity.

Shams Charania is now reporting that Williamson is actually showing improved bone healing in his foot.
This means that he will begin to move on to full weight-bearing exercises in the future and then, after that, basketball activity.
Does this mean Williamson’s future in the league has come back to life?
With Or Without Williamson
One thing should be made abundantly clear: this latest good news doesn’t mean that Williamson is coming back to the Pelicans any time soon.
He still has a long road ahead of him before he’s suiting up and taking to the floor again.
But this development is the first positive information we’ve heard about the former number one draft pick in ages.
However, it doesn’t mean Williamson’s future in the NBA is with the Pelicans.
There have been many rumors that he’s unhappy with his team and the front office running it.
So even when he is completely healed and ready to ball again, he might not want to do so in The Big Easy.
Meanwhile, rumor has it that the team is already looking ahead to a post-Williamson world and some are suggesting they are ready to cut ties.
The news about Williamson’s recovery is good but it’s no guarantee that he will ever be a Pelican again.
