The news that shocked the NBA world yesterday was that Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving requested a trade.
Despite having a great season in Brooklyn, Irving is not happy with his current contract situation.
He is an unrestricted free agent after the season and his contract talks with the Nets have gone sour.
Irving has made it clear that either he gets traded before the trade deadline or he will leave in free agency.
So, the Nets would be smart to move him now and get a nice package back in return.
Three teams seem interested in the all-star point guard.
All three are Western Conference teams and in need of another star.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns are the teams that have shown interest.
So far, the Lakers, Mavericks and Suns have interest in trading for Kyrie Irving. Still, reluctance remains with making a commitment to a new contract upon his arrival. More here: https://t.co/kS3dTLiwzc

The one team that seems to be the favorite to land Irving is the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before the season, it was apparent that Irving wanted to team up with LeBron James again.
So that makes Los Angeles a strong target to land the all-star.
Also, the Lakers are currently on the outside of the playoff picture.
Making a trade for Irving before the deadline could help vault the Lakers back into contention.
But, the Mavericks and Suns are also in the same boat.
They need to add another star player, and Irving seems like the only one available.
All in all, the trade talks around Irving will pick up over the next few days.
It just remains to be seen what team is willing to take the risk to acquire him.
