The Memphis Grizzlies have done what not many NBA teams have been able to do.
They’ve built a strong championship contender while also putting themselves in a position to thrive in the future.
The young Grizzlies are far ahead of schedule in terms of their development, as no one expected them to be this good this fast.
But more than that, they’ve also put themselves in a privileged position to get even better, as they have plenty of first-round picks and salary cap flexibility.
That’s why NBA insider Shams Charania warned the league to keep an eye on them as potential suitors for the next available superstar:
“They have all their flexibility moving forward,” Sharania told FanDuel TV. “They have like five first-round picks to play with, and those are the picks they put on the table in any deal for Kevin Durant when they enquired on him in the summer. They can really go get a star player out there in the marketplace or whenever that guy becomes available. The question’s gonna be, internally do they want to continue to do it in-house, homegrown talent, or do you want to go out and use your assets.”

There have been rumors around the league about Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, or even DeMar DeRozan or Zach LaVine potentially becoming available.
Pascal Siakam, or OG Anunoby, could also be potential targets for multiple teams, Grizzlies included.
So, even though they don’t exactly need to add more firepower right now, don’t be shocked if they wind up making a huge splash any time soon.
