While they may be playing better than they were, there is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers are still far from perfect, or even close to it.
Yet, they are still coming up short.
This has led to a lot of speculation about James possibly requesting a trade, even at 38 years old.
He might be an older NBA star but he’s still one of the best in the league and would generate immediate interest from all over the association.

But worried Lakers fans should calm down, according to one NBA insider.
Zach Lowe spoke about the prospect of James leaving LA and he shut down the rumors, saying, “I keep hearing [James] wants to stay with the Lakers. He wants to finish his career with the Lakers.”
That’s certainly good news for the Lakers because they are not ready to say goodbye to him.
He and Davis are clearly the most important part of the team and James has remained impressively consistent.
If he were to leave, the team would collapse almost instantly.
While it sounds like James wants to remain in the southland, he is likely unhappy with how the team is functioning right now.
He only has a few years left in the league and he doesn’t want to waste them with a squad that has no playoff hopes.
This leaves the Lakers in a bind: do they make big moves and trades now to help James or do they think about the long-term future and a world without James?
It’s a tough spot for the team’s front office but a choice needs to be made soon.
