On Friday, Kyrie Irving demanded that he be traded away from the Brooklyn Nets, no matter how big a contract extension they offered him.
On Sunday, the mercurial star got his wish.
Irving is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks, meaning he has officially given that team one of the most exciting backcourts in the league with him and Luka Doncic working together.
It sounds like Irving is very excited to get to work and improve Dallas’ chances.
But certain fans have heard all of this before.

James Stewart on Twitter pointed out that Irving’s latest remarks about his new team sound an awful lot like ones he has made before.
Back in 2017, Irving said he was “ecstatic” after a trade to the Boston Celtics and was looking forward to playing under then-coach Brad Stevens.
On Sunday, Irving said he was “ecstatic” about being traded to the Mavericks and was “looking forward” to playing alongside Doncic.
Dallas fans hope he is telling the truth because the idea of an engaged Irving in Dallas sounds amazing.
But more than a few people are worried that Irving’s feelings about his new team will sour, as they did in Cleveland, Boston, and most recently Brooklyn.
Does this mean that in a few seasons the Mavericks will also be stuck with a disgruntled star who wants a trade?
The Mavericks have a true chance at postseason greatness now that Irving is on board.
They have been struggling to give Doncic the assistance he needs all season long but Irving might totally change that.
Still, Irving has been unhappy on strong teams in the past and there is no telling how he will feel in a couple of seasons, or even a couple of months.
