Something has been going on in the NBA over the last week because several of the league’s biggest stars have been putting up some huge numbers.

As the regular season starts to ramp up and reach its conclusion, multiple major names in the NBA have been having banner nights, scoring more than 50 points a night.

It all started last week when LeBron James of The Los Angeles Lakers put up more than 50, a feat he repeated again just days later.

He’s not alone: Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant also of the Nets, and Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves have also leaped headfirst into the 50+ club in the last few days.

Will any other NBA greats score that many in the days ahead?

Heating Up

These huge games are coming when the teams need them most.

The regular season is reaching a critical stage when every win counts more than ever before and can help teams secure a spot in the playoffs.

That means that James, Tatum, and the rest are even more driven to win in order to improve their postseason fortunes.

This makes 50+ games even more impressive because it’s coming at a time when competition is at its highest and every single team playing is trying harder than ever before.

You don’t see players score more than 50 points a night that often and you definitely don’t see this many 50+ games so close to one another.

It’s almost as if these guys are in an unspoken competition with one another to see who can score the most points.

If that’s the case, hopefully this competition continues because it makes for some very fun basketball.
