Everyone knows that the Los Angeles Lakers are not having a good season.
True, they have won a game, finally, after Sunday night’s victory over the Denver Nuggets.
But that leaves them with one of the worst records in the NBA, 1-5, with a very long and difficult season ahead.
Under any other circumstances, they would look like frontrunners for a great draft pick because of their record.
However, they gave away their upcoming pick to the New Orleans Pelicans years ago when they acquired Anthony Davis.
Wishful thinking? 😅

But one NBA fan on Twitter has a novel idea: maybe the Pelicans don’t have to take that pick.
Amir put it bluntly:
“The Pelicans dont HAVE to swap with the Lakers this year. It’s an option. They can be gentlemen and let the Lakers keep their potential number 1 pick. That would be BALLER of them, honestly.”
The chances of the Pelicans not making good on their deal and taking the Lakers’ draft pick are so supremely slim that the idea of it is laughable.
This just goes to show that this Lakers season could be painful and way worse than it could have been in the long run.
The Pick To Pelicans
It made perfect sense for the Lakers to give up their draft pick a few seasons back when they were trying to get Davis.
You have to remember just how coveted Davis was – and how well it paid off.
Sure enough, LA got the player and then they got a championship ring shortly after that.
So, most people agree it was a smart move.
However, now the team is looking at the possibility of another nightmare season with nothing to show for it.
They could have an atrocious track record and not even get an advantage in the draft.
