The Detroit Pistons are currently in the midst of a rebuilding phase.
Yes, another rebuilding phase.
There is a good reason for this since the team ended up in 14th place in the East at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Even with last year’s number one draft pick, Cade Cunningham, the team is experiencing a lot of problems and needs a refresh.
NBA analyst Ben Stinar had an idea of how they could do that.
If the Pistons sign Deandre Ayton..
They will have the 1st and 2nd overall picks in the 2018 NBA Draft, AND the 2021 first overall pick in their starting lineup.
Cunningham, Ayton, Bagley and a PG would be nice.

If the Pistons make the right moves and sign current Phoenix Suns player Deandre Ayton, they’d have the first and second overall picks in the 2018 draft, as well as the first overall pick from the 2021 draft.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that’s the foundation of something that could be special.
Ayton On His Way?
Ayton was one of the most important parts of the Suns this year, averaging 17.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
Despite that, rumor has it that he wants to leave the team.
In fact, following the team’s loss in the Western Conference semifinals, it became obvious that the relationship between Ayton and the coaching staff wasn’t exactly strong.
If Ayton does demand a trade, plenty of teams would be eager to land him.
But if he went to Detroit, he’d have a huge and immediate impact on the struggling team.
The Pistons have been lying in wait for a while, trying to find fresh new blood to change the team’s fate.
Ayton may be just that.
Cunningham had a rough start to his rookie year but he got it together and is showing his potential now.
If he were to be surrounded by a few other stars, the Pistons really could make the Motor City proud again.
