The Boston Celtics look like the biggest threat out of the Eastern Conference right now.
But there’s no shortage of competition for the C’s right now, as the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers are also playing outstanding basketball.
Nonetheless, we’ve seen how quickly things can change around the NBA.
Just a single move can trigger a domino effect that could alter the course of basketball as we know it.
That’s why, unlike what Kendrick Perkins thinks, JJ Redick believes that there are plenty of other teams with more at stake than the Celtics right now.
Per Redick, the Nets, Sixers, Warriors, and Suns are facing a potential crossroads about their roster’s futures:
“When I look at the Celtics, Jaylen Brown just turned 26, Jayson Tatum is getting ready to turn 25 — if they don’t win it all this year, those guys aren’t going anywhere,” Redick said. “Joe Mizzula is an interim head coach that took over four days before training camp, he’s done an outstanding job. He’s got the best odds to win Coach of the Year; his job is secure. So, maybe Tatum and Brown’s legacy is at stake. I can think of four teams off the top of my head that have more at stake this season than the Boston Celtics: the Brooklyn Nets, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Golden State Warriors, and the Phoenix Suns.”

We could be looking at the end of the Irving-Durant era, a new coach and/or James Harden out of Philadelphia, the Warriors’ dynasty, and the Chris Paul era in Phoenix.
So, yeah, even though it may seem like it’s championship-or-bust in Boston, they’re not the only team under a lot of pressure in 2022.
