Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns set off a small firestorm when he recently said that he doesn’t care about his legacy within the NBA.
Durant said that he used to care deeply about where he fits in the history of the league but that he’s beyond that debate now.
Even though Durant says he doesn’t think about his legacy, many other people do.
NBA analyst Jay Williams believes that Durant’s legacy has been cemented as one of the best to ever play.
Speaking on Get Up, he had nothing but compliments for Durant:
“We talk about who are the greatest [NBA players ever] … if we’re just looking at this through strictly talent, basketball skill set, are you gonna tell me that Kevin Durant is not one of the greatest that the game of basketball has ever seen?”

Williams and many others believe that Durant will go down in the history books, no matter how he feels about his career and his legacy.
He is a 13-time All-Star, a four-time scoring champion, two-time NBA champion, regular season MVP, and two-time Finals MVP too.
Durant’s abilities and skills have never been questioned and he has consistently been one of the best players in the Association.
That is why, even at 34 years old, his trade to the Suns in February was so ground-breaking and jaw-dropping.
Durant has always been someone who doesn’t get caught up and focused on the speculation and analysis around the NBA.
Instead, he has always been only concerned about playing at the best of his ability and helping his team win.
His comments about legacy aren’t surprising but the response from analysts and fans isn’t either because he is one of the most beloved and respected stars alive.
