Before their latest loss to the Denver Nuggets the other night, the Los Angeles Lakers had actually put together an impressive five-game winning streak.
Even without Anthony Davis and sometimes without LeBron James too, the Lakers were still scoring some definitive wins.
You would think that would be nothing but great news for the team and its front office.
But according to one NBA insider, that isn’t the case.
"The front office has been so resistant to making an investment in this team, in this season, that winning, probably, is pissing them off because it’s making them look worse.” @HowardBeck on these Lakers refusing to commit fully to this season.

Speaking to Silver Screen And Roll, Howard Beck talked about the tough spot the team’s management is in currently.
“The front office has been so resistant to making an investment in this team, in this season, that winning, probably, is pissing them off because it’s making them look worse,” Beck said.
He commented that the front office was able to basically throw in the towel and not cave to pressure to make trades when the team was doing poorly.
Their reasoning was that they shouldn’t throw good money after bad and just let the rest of the season play out.
But when the Lakers showed signs of life it made the front office look worse and fans demanded that something – anything – be done to capitalize on the talent that is obviously on the roster right now.
We don’t know what Rob Pelinka, Jeanie Buss, and the rest of the Lakers executives will do.
Will they deal away their future draft picks and other assets in an attempt to make something of this season or will they stick to their original plan and sit tight, no matter if the Lakers have occasionally terrific winning streaks?
Whatever they choose to do, they better make up their minds soon because the clock is ticking.
