It’s always an honor for any manager to be selected to their league’s All-Star team coaching staff.
Many managers have been lucky enough to be granted that opportunity during their careers.
Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez is getting that honor this season.
Brian Snitker, the manager of the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves, will be managing the National League All-Star squad on July 19 in Los Angeles.
According to MLB insider Jesse Dougherty on Twitter, Snitker has selected Martinez to be a part of his All-Star staff in 2022.
Martinez managed the Nationals to a World Series title in 2019, but never got the chance to manage the All-Star Game due to COVID-19.
MLB just announced that Brian Snitker has asked Dave Martinez to be on his staff for the All Star game in July. The release doesn't specify if that's because Davey didn't get to manage the ASG in 2020 — b/c it didn't happen — but imagine it might be related.

Martinez Gets His Chance
This is a nice little honor for Martinez.
After being robbed of his opportunity to manage the All-Star Game in 2020, it’s nice that he gets to somewhat fulfill that dream.
Of course, there’s nothing confirming that that was the reason why Snitker selected Martinez to be a part of his coaching staff, but it could have something to do with that, as Martinez would have been the one to manage the NL All-Stars in 2020 had the All-Star Game actually taken place.
Due to the pandemic, it was wiped off the schedule.
It was scheduled to be at Dodger Stadium though, and now Martinez gets a chance to go to Los Angeles and be a part of something special.
He may not actually be managing the game, but it might end up feeling that way.
This is a great honor for Martinez.
When a manager asks another manager to be a part of his All-Star staff, it’s a tremendous honor and Martinez will hopefully enjoy getting a chance to be a part of Snitker’s staff.
