With a mid-range jumper in the third quarter of the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James made NBA history.
He surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 points and became the all-time scoring king in the NBA.
It was a truly special moment that included hugs, tears, and smiles all around the court.
Every athlete and every fan who loves sports had their eyes on the game last night, and they all witnessed an unforgettable moment.
Even the MLB universe was paying close attention to LeBron and his pursuit of the record.
Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts sent out a heartfelt message to James after he broke the record.
Both are Los Angeles legends and ambassadors, so it was cool to see one star congratulating the other.
“King James. Congratulations @KingJames on becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer! #ScoringKing,” the Dodgers tweeted with a video of Betts and his message.

The dynamic outfielder said that LeBron’s accomplishment is impressive, “especially for a pass-first guy.”
He also thanked him for “laying out the blueprint for all of us” and hoped he still has “a couple more years in him.”
It was a cool message from one LA legend to another.
In fact, it’s important to remember that both players were crowned champions with the historically relevant Lakers and Dodgers in 2020.
Betts helped the Dodgers win their first World Series since 1988, and James took the Lakers to winning the trophy with another legendary performance against the Miami Heat.
The King has received numerous congratulatory messages in the last few hours, but Betts’ has a special meaning.
