Not only are MLB stars giving their all for their countries in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but they are also having a great time.
Seen as an unnecessary tournament by some, the event is quickly gaining more and more fans around the world and, most importantly, among players themselves.
That’s one of the most important developments: some of the biggest stars in the sport have publicly said they love to be part of the tournament.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts is one of them.
“Mookie Betts and Mike Trout said the injury risk of playing in the WBC is worth the reward. Both said they were having a blast with Team USA. Betts: ‘This is so much fun. This is way better than getting four at-bats on the back fields,’” MLB insider Jesse Rogers tweeted.

Sure, there might be more of a risk in the WBC because the games count for something, but injuries can happen anytime, anywhere.
Getting four at-bats on the back fields is actually a nice way to prepare for the season, but we would argue that doing it in a competitive environment against the top players in the world defending their countries is much more competitive and fun.
For guys like Trout and Betts, who are among the most competitive in baseball, a challenge is always welcomed, no matter the circumstances.
Always.
Both are helping Team USA achieve its objectives after a tough loss in the opening game against Mexico.
They will now face the pesky Venezuela national baseball team in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Betts will surely be part of the starting lineup when the day comes.
