While Adam Wainwright chose to continue his legendary career for one more season, his longtime St. Louis Cardinals batterymate Yadier Molina chose to retire at the end of the season along with Albert Pujols.
Wainwright got the opportunity to pitch in this year’s World Baseball Classic.
Interestingly enough, Molina was the manager for Team Puerto Rico.
According to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, Wainwright and Molina have some friendly beef going on between the two of them.
Wainwright says that since the beginning of the Classic, Molina has completely ghosted him and has not responded to any texts.
Wainwright believes that this is similar to how Kobe Bryant ran through his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Pau Gasol during the Olympics.
Adam Wainwright said Yadier Molina has ghosted him throughout the tournament, never once responding to a text message. He thinks he’s doing like Kobe Bryant did running through Pau Gasol in the Olympics.
“He’s still my brother,” Wainwright said.

With Puerto Rico now out of the WBC, having been eliminated by Team Mexico on Friday, perhaps Molina can finally get back to Wainwright and wish his buddy good luck in the championship game.
But this ultimately speaks to the competitiveness of Molina, who was as intense as they came during his playing career.
As close as he is with Wainwright, he still wasn’t going to let him have the last laugh.
That is of course inevitable now, regardless of how the title game plays out on Tuesday.
If Molina hasn’t gotten back to Wainwright by now, he soon will at the end of the tournament.
This is just some friendly, albeit hilarious beef that the two Cardinals legends appear to be sharing as the Classic winds down.
But as Wainwright mentioned, Molina is still his brother.
