The Los Angeles Dodgers have once again fallen short in the postseason.
After winning a franchise record 111 games during the regular season, the Dodgers bowed out in the NLDS, losing in four games to the San Diego Padres.
Since the series with the Padres came to an end, there have been some Dodgers fans who have been citing the new playoff format as the reason why their beloved team is no longer playing.
But Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reminded fans on Twitter that the Dodgers have won the NL West nine out of the last 10 years, and have only one World Series title, which came in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, a season in which the postseason was expanded to 16 teams.
The Dodgers have won their division in 9 of the past 10 seasons. They have just one World Series title, which came in 2020’s 60-game COVID shortened season, over that stretch.
I don’t think the problem is the new playoff format.

Dodgers Fans Upset Over Playoff Format
It’s interesting that Dodgers fans are so hung up over the new playoff format.
As far as the Dodgers and their fans are concerned, mostly everything is still the same.
They finished with the best record in all of baseball and got a bye to the NLDS.
They awaited their opponent and ended up receiving the Padres in the first round.
The Dodgers had to win just three games in order to advance to the NLCS.
They managed to win just one.
They have also been to the World Series twice since 2017.
Granted, they lost to two teams who had been stealing signs with the use of technology, but the opportunity was still there to win.
Even with the new format, the Dodgers owned the best record in baseball.
Nothing was different for them this time around.
They still fell short in the NLDS.
Blaming the format does not change the fact that the Padres simply outperformed the Dodgers in the first round.
