New York City can be a pretty tough environment to play in, even for its own professional sports teams.
The fans are as passionate and raucous as any fanbase in all of sports and they’re very vocal about what they expect out of their teams and players.
So naturally, there will be some moments where home players will be booed and treated rather harshly.
But something funny happened today at Yankee Stadium.
It’s Bronx Education All-Star Day at the ballpark.
Before the game between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays, Jays insider Shi Davidi tweeted an update on how the day was going and revealed that both Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman drew a “smattering of boos.”
Reminder of how tough New York is on its sports teams: It’s Bronx Education All-Star Day at Yankee Stadium and when they were introduced to the kids and educators here, both Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone drew a smattering of boos. pic.twitter.com/bmaqt5wUTe

No Mercy!
This is hilarious.
Yankee fans have no mercy!
Even with the team playing well, they still booed Cashman and Boone as they greeted the children and the educators in attendance.
As mentioned previously, New York can be a tough crowd, but sometimes you’ve got to appreciate the humor when the fans boo their own kind.
Sports are funny that way sometimes.
Fans sometimes will be very supportive of their teams and players.
Other times, they’ll let them have it and show no mercy whatsoever.
That was the case here today.
But it’s quite hilarious that the fans booed them when all they were doing was saying hello to teachers and students.
It happens though.
New York fans don’t always give their teams a break.
It’s something everybody should know before taking a sports job in New York.
The fans don’t let up sometimes.
They’ll even let you have it when you’re greeting teachers and students.
